Postpartum Meals & Recipes

Are you a new mum looking for deliciously healthy postpartum recipes? Or has one of your beautiful Mama friends recently birthed and you’re looking for some postpartum meal inspiration to gift her some nourishment? Well, you’re in the right place!

After having my first child a couple of years ago (and currently being pregnant with the second), I’ve channelled a lot of energy into my postnatal health and nourishing my postpartum body with REAL foods. I started my recipe testing journey before my daughter arrived, trying to create easy, nutrient dense meals I could make in large batches that would freeze well, because we all know how crazy the postpartum time is – especially if you have more than one babe to look after! Throughout the last couple of years, we have welcomed A LOT of babies to our village / soul sister tribe, so I have had a lot opportunity to practice and tweak these recipes on new Mammas! Still to this day, the crowd favourite remains the Boobie Brownie, and for good reason!

Not all women are lucky enough to have the ease of free flowing milk when their new babe/s arrive, or some may have started their journey with some huge challenges of not having the newborn in their arms right away. So one of my first recipe ideas was some yummy, milk inducing options to help support the newly lactating Mamma. I was tired of just another boring oat biscuit, so I tested out some different chocolatey options … enter the Boobie Brownie! It might seem small, but real food ingredients can have a powerful effect on our health and support our bodies natural ability to do things, like produce milk. I’ve (sadly) delivered many Boobie Brownies and Biscuits, alongside other healing treats, to some beautiful friends that have started their new journey into motherhood in ICU and NICU. The last thing they needed to worry about was their milk supply, and not having their new babe in their arms, suckling their breasts, to kickstart their breastfeeding journey, this can often be the case. From all reports, their golden milk had been free flowing with ease, which was a relief to hear.

Birth is huge – mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally. Then you’ve got to navigate new motherhood, or motherhood with more beautiful babes than just one newborn to care for, and it is massive. Again, mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally. And more often than not, you – Mamma, are the last to be cared for, by you, and often those around you. Sadly, in our modern, fast-paced lifestyle, the notion of postpartum woman ‘bouncing back’ has sadly become the new norm. While I understand that most women may not have anywhere near the support of our ancient cultures (the ‘it takes a village’ was truly meant in all its glory), the deep rest in consideration of the ‘fourth trimester’ is something I hope the modern woman re-learns from her wise and knowing ancestors. I do feel there is a shift happening within this sacred space, and we are beginning to acknowledge and apply these ancient traditions once more.

I believe the first, and easiest, step to truely thriving in one’s postpartum season, is through healing, nourishing, soulful food! Which is why I created Partum. Essentials, to make your journey through your postpartum season as easy, and healthful as possible, while supporting your mind and whole body! I really do hope that Partum Essentials helps you on your journey of postpartum nourishment in the way it was designed, be it postpartum freezer meals. postpartum meal prep, or just easy postpartum meals.
