Food is often an underrated, but incredibly powerful tool in increasing breast milk production. There are a few special ingredients we add to some of our recipes that are absolute superstars when it comes to supporting and stimulating lactation – our most popular recipe by far has been our Boobie Brownie.
It is packed full of good fats (ghee and pastured eggs), easily digestible proteins (almond flour and pastured eggs), essential minerals and vitamins, and our milk promoting hero ingredients Golden Flax and Brewer’s Yeast. Other amazing ingredients that are featured throughout my recipes are sesame seeds and tahini, garlic, dark leafy greens, fennel and fresh ginger root.
One of the most important things to focus on is to ensure the food you are consuming are not full of empty calories, we want nutrient dense, complex carbohydrates, essential fatty acid rich foods and optimal, high quality protein (preferably from sustainable oily fish and pastured red meat where possible).
Hydration is equally as important as adequate nutrient intake, and enough good quality, filtered water is essential. To aid in hydration and increase mineral uptake, my Mamma Juice recipe is a great drink to make up and sip on throughout the day.
