DIY Padsicle / Peri-Popsicle

Have you heard of a postpartum padsicle or a peri-popsicle? It is a wonderfully soothing ice-block for your perineum! These were an absolute lifesaver after my birth, and really helped to soothe the pain and swelling from my 3rd degree tear. They are also just as soothing and effective post birth, whether you’ve experienced a tear or not. These home made postpartum padsicles have the added healing benefits of witch hazel, aloe vera, and essential oils that the store bought peri-ice blocks don’t have.

Postpartum Padsicle DIY Instructions

NEED:

  • Organic maternity padsĀ (I love ‘Tom Organic‘)
  • Pure aloe vera gel (I love ‘Every Bit Organic‘)
  • Witch hazel extract
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Roman chamomile essential oil

METHOD:

  • Unwrap a packet of pads and open each pad (do not remove liner)
  • Generously smear aloe vera gel across each pad from top to bottom
  • Squirt 1-2 teaspoons of witch hazel extract over the pad
  • Add 1-2 drops each of lavender & chamomile essential oils to pad
  • Fold pads back up and place into a ziplock bag & store in the freezer
  • When ready to use remove from freezer & let thaw for a few mins before sticking to underwear so they’re a little more pliable
